Satin Rabbits


A mutation of chocolate Havana. Satin's have fine wool with a distinct sheen. Colors include black, blue, Californian, chinchilla, chocolate, copper, red, Siamese, white and broken group. The average adult weight for a Satin rabbit ranges from 8.5 to 12 lbs with the Bucks normally weighing in slightly less than the does. At maturity bucks weigh 9 1/2 pounds and does weigh 10.
The Satin Breed is a great breed to raise and show and is used commercially for fur and meat. The Satin Breed gets it's name from the special fur that makes it's coat different from all other breeds. The Satin breed has translucent hair shafts that reflect light and give it's coat a unique shine. A high protein diet supplemented with sunflower seeds help maintain good body tone and healthy coat on these animals. The satin coat needs no special care other than routine brushing.
